Villa Marziali
Villa
Marziali is an imposing house built in the Liberty style around the turn
of the century for the land owning Marziali family. The setting, unchanged
since then, is quite breathtaking. Sheltered from the North by the ancient
rock of Montefalcone, its views extend in a truly panoramic vista of the
Sibillini mountains. It has a 52 ft swimming pool and accommodation for a maximum of 12
people.
As
the sun rises, the towers of Montefalcone are silhouetted on the rugged
slope of the rock. Montefalcone is about a kilometre away. It is a very
quiet and simple village where time passes peacefully without the frenetic
rush we are all so used to in our daily lives. There are three small bars,
a baker, a post Office, pharmacy and grocery store as well as a small
restaurant and two churches.
The villa has splendid accommodation for
up to 12 people. It has been authentically restored to preserve all the
original features combined with the highest standard of contemporary
fittings. There are five fully tiled bathrooms. On the second floor are
four bedrooms, a bathroom and shower room. On the first floor is the spacious main bedroom and en-suite
bathroom finished in Rosso Verona marble. There is a further spacious
bedroom suite with en-suite bathroom.
Villa
Marziali is set in mature gardens. To the West, there are fruit trees set
in grass, a box edged fountain surrounded by vines, rose and herb beds.
To the East there is more grass, fruit
trees and a vegetable garden producing fresh salads and seasonal
vegetables for your enjoyment.
The ground floor accommodation is
situated in the original cantina which was formerly used for winemaking.
With its brick vaulted arches it is cool and atmospheric.
A
central hallway gives open plan access to a large sitting area to the West
and the kitchen and dining room to the East. Cooking at Marziali is a
pleasure by virtue of the spacious open-plan kitchen. It is very well
equipped with excellent cooking facilities and dishwasher. Three French
windows lead out to the South facing terrace where it is delightful to
sit, eating or drinking, or simply looking at the amazing views of Gran
Sasso, an incredible thirty two miles away on the South horizon.
From
the terrace a double flight of steps leads to the swimming pool, set in a
paved terrace amongst which grow pines, figs and other fruit trees. The
pool is 52 feet long with a diving board at the deep end. At the West end
is a large gazebo whose cane shading and trailing vines provide welcome
shade in the heat of the day. There is ample garden furniture – sun
loungers, garden chairs, tables and umbrellas. A barbecue on the upper
terrace is a wonderful way to end the day. Sit out under the stars with a
relaxing brandy or try the local Mistra – paradise!
